Sonu Nigam gets angry at Kolkata concert as audience stood up during his performance, says, "election mein khade ho jao yaar"

Sonu Nigam's Kolkata concert on February 10th was a mixed bag. His performance was stellar, but he had to stop to address audience members standing during the show. He jokingly suggested they "stand in elections" if they wanted to stand, highlighting his frustration with the disruption.

Sonu Nigam's recent Kolkata concert on February 10th was a mix of musical magic and a moment of frustration, as the singer took it upon himself to manage the crowd. While his performance charmed the audience, a section of attendees standing during the show prompted him to intervene, leading to a rather pointed comment.

A fan-shared video captured the incident. Sonu, on stage, addressed the standing members of the audience directly. “Agar tum ko khada hona hi hain, election mein khade ho jaao yaar!” he exclaimed, suggesting they find a more appropriate venue for their standing enthusiasm. He then urged them to sit down, saying, “Please bithao. Jaldi karo… itna time jaa raha hain mera maalum hain? Apka cut off time aa jayga phir, baithao! Jaldi baitho! Baitho! Bahar niklo! Make this space empty.” His tone, while firm, also conveyed a sense of urgency, as he pointed out the time constraints of the performance.

The video and subsequent discussions online revealed a deeper issue. Many fans supported Sonu's actions, citing poor management by the concert organizers. One comment read, “It was so disgusting that due to poor management by organisers, Sonu Sir had to intervene himself. So shameful.” Another echoed this sentiment, stating, “He actually had to manage the crowd and security himself. Because the management was so poor.

Reading lots of reports on the internet about it.”
The incident also brought back memories of the late singer KK's tragic death in Kolkata in 2022. A user commented, “He had do it by himself because he knows what happened to KK due to this type of management & security... Everyone will have to do this here and everywhere while running the show for self-security...”

This comment highlights the concerns about safety and crowd control at such events, particularly in light of KK's passing after a performance at Nazrul Mancha.

This wasn't the only recent health scare for Sonu Nigam. Just a few days prior, he revealed on Instagram that he had suffered a severe back spasm during a live performance. Describing the pain, he said, “But excruciating, excruciating pain. Laga tha jaese ek needle mere spine mein laga rakhi hai. Itna sa yaha waha ho aur needle spine mein ghus jayegi (I felt as if a needle was pricking my spine. I would move a little and the needle would enter my spine). It was like that. Really bad.” Despite this painful experience, Sonu continued with his performances, showcasing his dedication to his craft. The Kolkata incident, however, underscores the challenges artists sometimes face, not just in terms of their own health, but also in ensuring a smooth and safe experience for their audiences.
