Renowned singer Sonu Nigam found himself in a troubling situation during his performance at Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025. The concert, meant to be a celebration of music, took an unexpected turn when some unruly students hurled stones and bottles at the stage.
Despite the disruption, Nigam remained composed and urged the audience to maintain decorum.
Addressing the crowd, he said, “Main aapke liye aaya hun yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye.”
His plea was aimed at restoring order while ensuring the safety of those on stage.
The situation escalated as members of Nigam’s team reportedly sustained injuries due to the chaos.
With over one lakh attendees at the event, the incident highlighted concerns about crowd management at large-scale university festivals.
Following the concert, several students expressed their disappointment over the behavior of a few attendees. Speaking to The Hindustan Times, a student from Delhi University’s Daulat Ram College remarked, “It was shameful to see that just because of a few unruly students, a legend like him had to pause and request the audience to behave.”
Amid the chaos, Nigam showed his good-natured spirit when a fan tossed a pink hairband onto the stage. Embracing the moment, he wore it and playfully said, “I will take this home.” The crowd affectionately called him “Pookie,” adding a lighthearted touch to an otherwise tense evening.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of audience responsibility at public events, ensuring that artists can perform without fear of harm or disruption.
