Actress Sonakshi Sinha is reportedly gearing up for her highly anticipated debut in South Indian cinema. The actress, widely recognised for her roles in Hindi films, is set to make her Telugu film debut with the thriller Jatadhara, which also stars Sudheer Babu.
As per IANS report, industry insiders suggest that Sonakshi has been finalised for a strong, distinctive role that promises to be unlike anything audiences have seen before.
Interestingly, Sonakshi's initial offer in the South film industry came with the Tamil movie Hey Ram, where she was expected to star opposite the legendary Kamal Haasan. However, the project never materialised.
Presented by Zee Studios and produced by Prerna Arora, Jatadhara stars Sudheer Babu in the lead role. The film has already sparked significant interest following its grand muhurat ceremony in Hyderabad. According to the latest reports, Sonakshi will join the cast and is slated to begin shooting on March 8.
The actress was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which delved into the lives of tawaifs in the Heera Mandi red-light district of Lahore during the Indian independence movement against British rule. The Netflix series, which also starred Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, and others, featured Sonakshi in a dual role as Rehana Jahan and Fareedan Jahan.
In addition to Jatadhara, Sonakshi will soon be seen alongside her husband, actor Zaheer Iqbal, in Tu Hai Meri Kiran. Directed by Karan Rawal and Sanjana Malhotra, this marks their second collaboration following Double XXL. However, the film is currently embroiled in legal issues, as Adlabs has raised concerns about alleged copyright infringement related to the song Tu Hai Meri Kiran.
Sonakshi’s future projects also include Nikita Roy and the Book of Darkness, which continues to build anticipation among her fans.
