Indian actor Siddharth is set to headline Netflix’s upcoming family drama Unaccustomed Earth opposite Freida Pinto, marking his first major international project.
The eight-episode series, created by John Wells and Madhuri Shekar, is described as an “epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant drama” centered on an elite Indian American community in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At its core is a scandalous affair that threatens to disrupt fragile family bonds and long-standing traditions.
Netflix confirmed that filmmaker Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox) will direct, with Wells also serving as showrunner. Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow, and Nisha Ganatra join as executive producers. Shooting is scheduled to begin in August 2025 and continue through the year.

Siddharth, known for his roles in Boys, Rang De Basanti, and a career spanning Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, has built a reputation for bold storytelling choices. The actor, also a screenwriter, producer, and singer, has won acclaim for balancing mainstream and independent cinema.
Freida Pinto, who rose to international fame with Slumdog Millionaire, adds Hollywood star power to the project. Her pairing with Siddharth signals Netflix’s intent to expand South Asian representation on a global scale.
Unaccustomed Earth is adapted from Jhumpa Lahiri’s celebrated stories, will explores themes of love, desire, identity, and belonging within immigrant families.
