Television actress Shubhangi Atre's former husband, Piyush Poorey, reportedly died on Saturday. He was battling liver cirrhosis. Piyush was a digital marketing professional.
The actress told TOI, "Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this."
Meanwhile, a source revealed to the website that the actress was not on speaking terms with her ex-husband. The source added, “She is mourning. She has resumed shooting (for her TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) on Sunday."
For the unversed, Shubhangi and Piyush tied the knot in 2003. They welcomed their daughter named Ashi, in 2006. The former couple were married for 22 years and finalised their divorce on February 5 2025.
The actress has previously spoken about her divorce from Piyush and told Bombay Times, "It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences.”
She added, “However, now, I'm out of that marriage, and I feel a sense of peace as if a heavy burden has been lifted. Now, I want to focus on my daughter and provide her with a happy and secure environment."
She stated that it had been almost a year since they had stopped living together, and despite their best efforts to save their marriage, they realised they couldn't resolve their differences.
Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! actress also noted that mutual respect, companionship, trust, and friendship are essential for a strong marriage, but they had decided to part ways, giving each other space to focus on their individual lives and careers.
