TV actress Shubhangi Atre, who is known for her role of Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabhi JI Ghar Par Hain, got emotional as she remembered her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey.

Piyush died of liver cirrhosis in April of this year.

In a recent interview with Viral Bhayani's team, Shubhangi said that the doctors had warned them about the consequences early and said that if Piyush didn't change his lifestyle and leave his alcohol addiction the consequences could be fatal.

“Main yahi kahungi ke bahot hi unfortunate tha... But, I think it is because of addiction. Doctors ne bahot pehle hi bol diya tha ke agar woh apna lifestyle change nahi karenge, toh yeh ho sakta hai So, I knew that it might happen, but I had no idea that it would happen so early." ("I would say it was very unfortunate... But I think it's because of addiction. The doctors had said a long time ago that if he didn't change his lifestyle, this could happen. So, I knew it might happen, but I had no idea it would happen so early.")

“I want to remember him for all the good things. I loved him, and I might never forget about that. Achchi yadoon mein main yaad rakhna chahati ho Piyush ko aur main aaj bhi yahi bolti ho ki Ashi (their daughter) ko bless karte rehna. Hum dono ko guide karte rehna, and that's it," added Shubhangi.

Shubhangi and Piyush got married in 2003 and were together for 22 years. The couple had separated in 2022, but their divorce was legally finalised on February 5, 2025.

They have a daughter, Ashi, who is studying in the US.
