Two men suspected of firing shots outside Bollywood actress Disha Patani’s home in Bareilly last week have been caught after a tense police encounter in Ghaziabad.
As per News 18, the men, named Ravindra from Rohtak and Arun from Sonipat, were injured during the confrontation and are now receiving medical care while in police custody. Both are believed to be linked to the Goldy Brar-Rohit Godara gang, a known criminal group.
The dramatic arrest happened when a joint team from the Special Task Force’s Noida unit and Delhi Police tracked the pair in Ghaziabad’s Tronica City. When officers tried to stop them, the suspects opened fire, leading to an exchange of gunshots. Despite being wounded, the men were subdued and disarmed before being taken to hospital under police supervision.
Police also recovered two guns—a Glock and a Zigana pistol—along with a large number of bullets.
In the early hours of September 12, two unknown individuals fired several rounds outside Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area. Police say the shooting happened around 3:30 am, with the assailants firing 8 to 10 rounds before fleeing the scene. Bullets recovered were foreign-made.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Disha’s father, Jagdish Patani, lodged an official complaint soon after. Security around the actress’s home was immediately stepped up, with armed police deployed to guard the premises.
Speaking to ANI, Jagdish said, “Two unidentified assailants fired at my residence…Police are making all possible efforts…Bareilly Police, SSP, ADG are all working on it…The gunshots are not indigenous; they are foreign-made…I think 8-10 rounds were fired…I came to know through social media that Goldy Brar has taken its responsibility but it is not clear yet…”
A case was registered at the Bareilly Kotwali police station, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered swift action, emphasising the government’s zero-tolerance policy on crime.
Additional Director General Amitabh Yash shared that the police pieced together CCTV footage, intelligence reports, and information from neighbouring states to identify Ravindra and Arun as the shooters.
Shortly after the attack, the Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar gang claimed responsibility on social media.
Virendra Charan, a gang member, posted on Facebook saying the firing was a warning after the actress allegedly showed disrespect towards their religion. He called the shooting a “trailer” for what might come next.
“Next time, if she or anyone else shows any disrespect towards our religion, we will not let them leave alive from their house," the post read.
“This message is not only for her but also for all the film artists and people associated with her. If anyone does any such disrespectful act related to our religion and saints in the future, then be ready to face the consequences. We are ready to go to any extent to protect our religion. For us, religion and the whole society are always one, and protecting them is our first duty," it added.
