The latest episode of Shark Tank India 4 featured an intriguing pitch from Good Monk, a brand introducing a revolutionary powder-based nutrition supplement designed to meet individuals’ dietary needs without altering the taste of their food. Founders Amarpreet and Sahiba sought ₹1 crore for 1.67% equity, sparking curiosity among the Sharks.

The entrepreneurs explained that their product could seamlessly blend into daily meals, making it suitable for all age groups. To demonstrate, they served two bowls of dal—one with their nutritional mix and one without. Surprisingly, none of the Sharks could tell the difference. However, Shark Azhar Iqubal remained skeptical about the product’s efficacy, arguing that relying on such supplements was no different from taking synthetic nutritional aids.

Vineeta Singh, a mother herself, strongly resonated with the product’s purpose. She highlighted how picky eating among children is a common household challenge. Sharing her own experience, she mentioned grating nuts into rice for her kids to ensure proper nutrition, acknowledging that Good Monk offered a practical solution for parents.

When it came to investment offers, Vineeta pointed out flaws in the brand’s strategy, advising the founders to onboard a celebrity mother as their brand ambassador while cutting unnecessary marketing expenses. She proposed a conditional deal of ₹50 lakh for 1.25% equity, along with ₹50 lakh as debt at a 10% interest rate for three years. However, she set specific conditions: reducing marketing spend to 20% of sales, lowering fixed costs, and achieving a (-5% to -10%) EBITDA margin within the next three months.

The other Sharks opted out, with Aman Gupta expressing doubts about the business model. In his signature style, he quipped, “I don’t want to be the monk who sells his Ferrari to invest in your business.” However, he admitted that had Vineeta not made an offer, he might have stepped in. As the founders left to discuss the proposal, Aman jokingly told Vineeta, “Vineeta, tune mera deal kharab kar diya. I hate you!” (Vineeta, you ruined my deal.) Ultimately, the founders returned and accepted Vineeta’s offer, securing a deal on Shark Tank India 4.
