Mira Rajput, who is the wife of Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, has successfully carved an image for herself aside from just being known as a star wife. Mira, who hails from Delhi, shifted to Mumbai after her wedding with Shahid at the tender age of 20.
After being married for over a decade, Mira has now successfully carved out a niche for herself by founding a wellness and beauty firm and maintaining a YouTube channel.
But one thing that Mira dislikes is the tags that people give - for eg - 'Star Wife'. Mira spoke on Social Media Star With Janice (Season 5) to discuss her opinions on the phrase "star kid" and why she feels it's time the industry moved on from it.
Mira stated that people use the term "star kid" to remember someone, but it now has a bad connotation due to nepotism.
"Perhaps it was necessary to form an association in order to increase recall value. Even if you put that on a child and call them "star kids," people dislike listening to the term because of its nepotistic overtones. Yet, that phrase is still in use; it needs to find its way out," she explained.
Mira also questioned the continued usage of the term "star wife" and its significance. "I've never understood the notion of a celebrity wife; what does that mean? An actor, celebrity, or star may have a wife or a spouse, but the term "star husband" is never used. "Why is there a star wife?"
Mira previously talked honestly with influencers Naina Bhan and Sakshi Shivdasani about the emotional challenges she had during her first few years of marriage.
“I think we (Mira and her friends) did evolve separately. I’d like to admit that it was quite isolating because we were just in different phases of life at that time. You get to different phases in life, and you look at your friends. I wish I could do what she’s doing," she had said.
Mira Rajput married actor Shahid Kapoor when she was only 21. The couple, who have a 13-year age difference, now has two children: Misha and Zain.
