Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his shock and sadness on social media on Thursday in response to the tragic plane crash that happened close to Ahmedabad airport.

One of the deadliest air disasters to strike India in almost three decades, the incident involved a Boeing Dreamliner operated by Air India on its way to London.

The actor shared his grief in a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing: "Absolutely heartbroken with the news about the crash in Ahmedabad... my prayers for the victims, their families and all affected."

His post resonated with fans and the film fraternity alike, as many paused their work and public engagements in light of the tragedy.

Shah Rukh Khan joined a growing list of Indian cinema personalities who have publicly mourned the incident. Several actors, including Allu Arjun, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Riteish Deshmukh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karan Johar, Parineeti Chopra, and Janhvi Kapoor, also posted emotional notes, offering condolences to those who lost their lives and their loved ones.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the ill-fated aircraft departed from runway 23 at Ahmedabad airport at 1:39 PM and tragically crashed within just five minutes of take-off. Visuals from the scene, widely circulated on social media, depicted billowing plumes of smoke rising from the wreckage, with emergency response teams swiftly deployed.
