In yet another instance of AI-manipulated fake content, deepfake images featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, and their son Aryan Khan have surfaced online, with the photos falsely claiming to depict the family in Mecca.
The deepfake images of Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, and Aryan Khan first began circulating around New Year’s, accompanied by claims that the family had visited Mecca on the first day of the year.
The pictures show the trio posing in front of the grand mosque in Mecca. However, it was later revealed that these images were AI-generated and entirely false. Some Instagram accounts even clarified in their posts that the photos had been created using artificial intelligence.
During one of the episodes of Koffee With Karan, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, Gauri Khan spoke about the mutual respect for their respective religions that she and Shah Rukh have shared since the very beginning. "There is a balance. I respect Shah Rukh's religion, but that doesn't mean I would convert and become a Muslim. I don't believe in that." Gauri further expressed that everyone is an individual who follows their own religion. She emphasized that mutual respect is essential, adding that Shah Rukh Khan would never disrespect her religion, and she would never disrespect his.

Bollywood celebrities have been targeted by deepfake content before. Previously, videos of Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif were also manipulated using artificial intelligence and circulated online.
