Sanjana Sanghi inspires global youth as UNDP Champion: Young people are actively building a better world

Indian actor and humanitarian Sanjana Sanghi has been making waves on the global stage with her association with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). As a UNDP Youth Champion, Sanghi uses her voice to champion youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and gender equality—all vital components of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UNDP operates in over 170 countries, working to eradicate poverty, reduce inequality, and support sustainable growth. It empowers nations through policy support, capacity-building, and the promotion of resilience. In this mission, youth leaders like Sanjana Sanghi play a crucial role in energizing and engaging the next generation.

In 2024, Sanghi made history as the youngest Indian to deliver a keynote at the UN General Assembly, addressing global leaders from the same podium that once hosted icons like Priyanka Chopra Jonas. This milestone underscored her growing influence as a global advocate. From her early college days, Sanghi has been deeply committed to grassroots change—leading initiatives in education, gender equity, and digital literacy.

Reflecting on her journey, Sanghi remarked, "It's incredibly empowering to see young people not just dreaming of a better world, but actively building it. My association with UNDP allows me to amplify these voices and help create pathways for their impactful solutions." She added, "Working with the UNDP has been an enriching journey. This year, she also led Youth For Change, UNDP’s flagship campaign aimed at mobilizing young people to take leadership roles in addressing global challenges. The initiative champions youth as agents of transformation, fostering inclusive, just, and equitable societies.

Looking ahead, Sanghi will launch the finale of the 2025 Youth Co:Lab, a social innovation platform organized in partnership with Niti Aayog. Now in its third year, the initiative incubates young entrepreneurs who are creating purpose-driven ventures for social good.

Outside her advocacy work, Sanghi finds solace and inspiration in New York City. Whether strolling through Central Park, admiring the exhibits at the Met, or embracing the vibrant energy of Times Square, the city continues to fuel her passion for global change.
