Sandeep Reddy Vanga says Ranbir Kapoor got all the love for Animal while he himself faced a lot of 'criticism'

Sandeep said he was panned for making Animal whereas Ranbir got all the love.

Animal and Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga spoke about how small actors from his films didn't get cast but those same producers want to work with Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.

In an interview with Komal Nahata for his podcast, Sandeep said Ranbir Kapoor got praised for his role in Animal, but he himself faced a lot of criticism for making the movie.

Sandeep told Nahata that he, Ranbir Kapoor, didn't receive any negative feedback despite his intense and rogue performance. Whereas, as a director, Sandeep said he was criticized for showcasing toxic masculinity through the film.

"People who criticized very badly, film-related people, everybody said Ranbir was brilliant. I am not jealous of Ranbir, but the point is, ‘Ranbir was brilliant, but the writer-director was...’ I don’t understand the disparity. I understood they want to work with Ranbir. That’s clear because if they say anything to Ranbir... It’s easy to make a comment about me because I am new to this place. A filmmaker will make a film in 2-3 years, but an actor will appear five times. So the one with whom you can work more, you won’t say anything about him. That’s true," he said.

In another quote, Sandeep also narrated an incident where one actor from his earlier hit film Kabir Singh was rejected by a producer for being a part of that movie.

Sandeep said those same producers are dying to work with Ranbir and Rashmika.

Talking about Ranbir Kapoor, he is confirmed to play a double role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal Park.

He had told Deadline: "He wants to make it over three parts. The second part is called Animal Park. We’ve been sharing ideas from the first film itself and how he wants to take the story forward. It’s very exciting because now I get to play two characters, the antagonist and the protagonist."

The 2023 superhit movie Animal had Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in key roles. Kabir Singh was also directed by Sandeep, and it has Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
