The 2016 romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, made an unexpected box office comeback following its re-release on February 7. Defying all expectations, the film has been performing exceptionally well, surpassing Rs 15 crore within just three days.
The film’s re-release opened to an impressive Rs 4.25 crore net on its first day, followed by a stellar Rs 5.25 crore net collection on Saturday. The upward trend continued on Sunday, with the film earning between Rs 6-6.25 crore net, bringing its opening weekend total to Rs 15.50 crore. This figure is over 170% higher than its original lifetime earnings.
When Sanam Teri Kasam first hit theaters in 2016, it struggled at the box office, managing only Rs 9 crore net in its entire run. It failed to impress the audience back then. However, its re-release has given the film a second life, achieving remarkable success despite minimal promotions.
Helmed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sanam Teri Kasam marked the Bollywood debut of Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane. Released in 2016, the romantic drama introduced Mawra to Hindi cinema, where she gained recognition for her heartfelt performance.
Despite tough competition from Hollywood’s Interstellar and Bollywood releases Loveyapa and Badass Ravi Kumar, Sanam Teri Kasam continues to perform strongly at the box office. Notably, Interstellar also made its return to Indian cinemas this week with a re-release.
