Rosamund Pike remembers being nearly pushed to the limit during a Die Another Day audition. Pike, who played Miranda Frost in the 2002 James Bond movie, revealed a shocking detail about her audition in an open interview with Harper's Bazaar UK. She was instructed to stand in her pants and take off her dress.
"In the Bond audition, I was asked to unzip and drop the dress I was wearing, to just stand there in underwear,” Pike revealed. “And I thought, ‘Well, no, I’ll be doing that if I get the part. I won’t be doing that now.’ I don’t know what possessed me."
Pike managed to land the part in spite of this awkward request, and he eventually costarred in the movie with Pierce Brosnan. Her character, Miranda Frost, is presented as an Olympic fencer, a Harvard graduate, and an MI6 agent. But the plot is further complicated by the revelation that she is a double agent. Her character is killed by Halle Berry's portrayal of Jinx Johnson, another legendary Bond girl, in the suspenseful film's conclusion.
Additionally, Pike shared a special behind-the-scenes video from David Tennant's David Tennant Does a Podcast with... show. The actress remembered how uncomfortable she felt in a private moment with Pierce Brosnan. As they embraced, Pike noticed something strange: “We have this clinch, and then we separate, and I look at this body tape and the nipple covers and they’re covered in hair,” she explained. “And I think, ‘Oh my God, I’m waxing Pierce’s chest.'”
She added, “I was so mortified. I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s so brave, and I’m pulling off his chest hair with every embrace.’” However, after a few takes, Pike realised the truth: “It was not him. It was the fake fur of the rugs adorning the swan bed. I literally thought I was waxing the poor man’s chest.”
In hindsight, this humorous episode demonstrated Pike's ability to find humour in uncomfortable circumstances, which seemed very different from the high-stakes espionage world of James Bond.
