Mumbai fans are in for a treat as the excitement surrounding Kantara: Chapter 1 reaches new heights. On September 29, Hombale Films will hold a significant pre-release event that will introduce the Kantara universe to viewers in North India for the first time.
Expectations were extremely high following Kantara's incredible 2022 success, and the prequel has lived up to the hype. Kantara: Chapter 1 promises a deeper exploration of the myth, mystery, and magic that made the original a cultural phenomenon, with Rishab Shetty at the helm once more.
Fans got exactly what they expected from the recently released trailer: stunning images, eerie soundtrack, and a strong emotional core. It received an incredible 3.4 million likes and 107 million views in a single day, making it one of the year's most talked-about trailers.
Now, the spotlight shifts to Mumbai. A source close to the project shared, “The makers of Kantara: Chapter 1 are planning a promotional event in Mumbai, which will be attended by Rishab Shetty, lead actress Rukmini, and the producers from Hombale Films.”
They added, “This will be Rishab’s first media appearance in North India in almost two years, as he was fully occupied with the making of Kantara: Chapter 1. The makers will be marking their first major North India outing with this media interaction.”
Beyond the trailer, the film is already making waves in other ways. It’s set to release in multiple languages — Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, and English — reaching audiences far and wide. North Indian distribution will be handled by Anil Thadani’s AA Films.
And in a huge OTT move, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights for a massive ₹125 crore, making it one of the biggest digital deals ever for a Kannada film.
But perhaps the most exciting part? A massive war sequence, months in the making, featuring over 500 fighters and 3,000 extras, shot across a sprawling 25-acre outdoor set — one of the most ambitious action sequences in Indian cinema.
As the release date nears — October 2nd — it’s clear that Kantara: Chapter 1 isn’t just a film.
