Renu Desai, the talented actress who was previously married to Pawan Kalyan, has been extremely open about her personal life recently.
But in a recent interview, she finally revealed why she chose to remain single after her divorce from the actor-politician.
For those who are unaware, Renu and Pawan Kalyan were the buzz of the town in the early 2000s, appearing together in films such as Badri and Johnny.
They tied the knot in 2009 and have two children: Akira Nandan and Aadhya. Their marriage did not work out, so they filed for divorce in 2011, which was finalised in 2012.
While Pawan married Anna Lezhneva, a Russian actress, Renu chose not to marry again.
When questioned on the Nikhil Vijayendra Simha podcast if she ever wishes she had a partner to care for her, Renu responded, "Of course, I wish I had a partner. However, my sense of obligation to my children prevents me from doing so. If I look at it individually, I think I should have a lover, a marriage, and a life. But when I consider it from the children's perspective..."
Renu also admitted that she attempted to move on and even became engaged in 2018, but it did not work out.
"I tried again, and I got engaged; it felt like an arrangement. But I realised I couldn't do honor to either the relationship or the kids. I am a lone parent. It is different when you are married and have children with someone. But when you've had children with someone, bringing someone else into the picture is a delicate situation."
Renu said she prioritises the well-being of her children, particularly her 15-year-old daughter, Aadhya. "I'm waiting for Aadhya to grow up; she's 15 now, maybe when she's 18 and off to college," she remarked, hinting that she could consider dating again once her daughter is older.
Despite the attention paid to her personal life, Renu has focused on her career, recently appearing in the TV serial Radhamma Kuthuru and the film Tiger Nageswara Rao. She has also signed on to other projects that have yet to be announced.
Renu made his debut as a director and producer with the Marathi film Ishq Wala Love in 2014.
While Renu may not have found love again, she is clearly dedicated to doing what is best for her children.
