Actor Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan, before he steps into politics with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is gearing up for a Pongal release next year.
On November 8, the makers unveiled the film’s first song, Thalapathy Kacheri. The lyrical video quickly went viral, crossing over 35 million views at the time of writing.
However, the massive view count led some X users to suspect that bots might have been involved. YouTube later addressed these claims. One X user shared a screenshot showing that Thalapathy Kacheri had gained 3 million views in just an hour, questioning whether the surge was due to automated traffic.

Team YouTube replied to the post, clarifying that the platform has mechanisms to ensure the authenticity of engagement metrics.
Their statement read, “We have a system in place to verify engagement metrics (likes, views, subs) if they're from a legitimate traffic source. View counts can slow down or freeze as we verify they're real (from humans, not computer programs).”
We have a system in place to verify engagement metrics (likes, views, subs) if they're from a legitimate traffic source. View counts *can* slow down or freeze as we verify they're real (from humans, not computer programs). More on this here! https://t.co/Xm2btxuQk7 — TeamYouTube (@TeamYouTube) November 11, 2025
Another fan added that YouTube might have initially flagged the song as a political campaign video before allowing the views to update again.
The user wrote, “YouTube flagged #Thalapathykatcheri as a campaign video for Mr.Vijay and TVK hence Google ads policy have frozed the views count after the review of the video not relating to politics the real counts started reflecting yesterday night.”

YouTube seemed to back up this explanation, responding, “To maintain a fair & positive experience across YouTube, we have systems that verify if views are valid & should be counted!”
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features an impressive ensemble cast including Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain, among others.
