The buzz around Ramayana continues to grow, and it is easy to see why. With Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi leading the cast, the mythological epic has become one of the most talked-about Indian films of the year.
On Yash’s 40th birthday on January 8, Namit Malhotra shared a warm note celebrating both their friendship and creative partnership.
He wrote, "Wishing a fantastic 40th Birthday to my friend, collaborator, and the most AMAZING STAR in the world. Your enthusiasm and spirit are contagious, uplifting, and never TOXIC. I admire how you elevate standards and transform the industry, rising from an underdog to a remarkable talent, from Kannada cinema to India and now to the world. Have a wonderful day and let’s celebrate 2026 as we all support you in reaching even greater achievements."

Yash responded earlier today with equal warmth and reflection. His message read, "Thank you, Namit. It’s been a remarkable journey to this point. I take pride in collaborating with a visionary like you; we’ve made significant progress toward our singular objective, and this year marks the pivotal moment we’ve been striving for."
He went on to add, "I truly believe we are on the brink of establishing Indian cinema on the global map. Having you alongside me during this transformation is something I cherish greatly. Let’s continue to innovate together," offering a glimpse into the passion fuelling the project.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the project promises scale, emotion, and ambition in equal measure. Planned as a two-part film, the first instalment is slated for a Diwali release this year, a festive window that perfectly suits its grandeur.
While much about the story and visuals remains under wraps, what stands out is the intent behind the film. More than just a retelling of an epic, Ramayana appears to be driven by a deeper vision—one that aims to take Indian cinema to a truly global audience.
This sentiment was recently echoed by Yash, who plays Ravana, in a heartfelt exchange with producer Namit Malhotra.
Produced by Prime Focus Studios and DNEG in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana boasts a world-class technical team.
Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are composing the music, Guy Norris of Mad Max: Fury Road fame is handling action, and Terry Notary brings his expertise from films like Avengers and Planet of the Apes.
The ensemble cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman—making Ramayana not just a film, but a moment many are waiting to witness.
