The latest Telugu romantic comedy Telusu Kada, starring Siddu Jonnalagadda, Raashi Khanna, and Srinidhi Shetty, released in theatres on October 17, 2025, and had a slow start at the box office.
According to early estimates from industry trade trackers, the film collected around Rs 2 crore on its opening day.
On its first day, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 27.92% in Telugu theatres. Attendance at the 2D shows increased gradually throughout the day, starting at 23.52% for the morning shows, increasing marginally to 24.75% in the afternoon, then to 24.42% in the evening, and finally reaching a peak of 38.99% for the night shows.
Telusu Kada, which was written and directed by Neeraja Kona, will have fierce competition from other October 17 releases, such as Pradeep Ranganathan's Dude and Dhruv Vikram's Bison Kaalamaadan.
However, since viewers have enjoyed the film's novel approach to romance and the performances of the three main actors, good word-of-mouth is anticipated to aid in the movie's growth in the days ahead. The movie's coming-of-age love story has received praise from many viewers who found it to be emotionally compelling and relatable.
Varun (Siddu Jonnalagadda), the protagonist of the tale, was raised without parents and aspires to provide for his family. Varun is devastated when his first love, Raaga (Srinidhi Shetty), ends their relationship because she doesn't think marriage or social labels are necessary. Later, he marries Anjali (played by Raashi Khanna), and the two quickly learn they are unable to conceive. Unexpectedly, Raaga reappears in Varun's life, altering Anjali's life and upending the characters' preconceived notions about relationships and love.
Moneycontrol reviewed the film, noting, “Neeraja Kona may be directing for the first time, but she has a clear vision and knows how to connect emotionally with her audience. The story is relevant and easy to follow, highlighting how modern relationships are evolving. The film explores the complexities of love, commitment, and fresh ideas, particularly for urban couples. While the writing feels real and life-based, the sophisticated tone may be a little hard for some viewers to grasp.”
Overall, Telusu Kada has been appreciated for its heartfelt story, relatable characters, and the performances of its lead actors, making it a promising romantic drama despite its slow start at the box office.
