After his heartwarming Kannada film 777 Charlie won four Karnataka State Film Awards, actor and filmmaker Rakshit Shetty is ecstatic.

The much-loved film, which moved audiences across India with its heartwarming story, won honours for Second Best Film, Best Actor, Best Editing, and Best Lyricist — a moment of immense pride for the team that poured its heart into the project.

Sharing his emotions on X (formerly Twitter), Rakshit wrote, “Feeling grateful and humbled! ‘777 Charlie’ wins 4 State Awards.. 2nd Best Film, Best Actor, Best Editing & Best Lyricist. Heartfelt thanks to the jury, our amazing audience, and this incredible team. @Kiranraj61 for his vision, Pratheek for the flawless editing, and @Nagarjunsharma2 for words that touched hearts.”

777 Charlie, which was directed by Kiranraj K, tells the tale of Dharma, a reclusive and lonely man who, via his relationship with a dog named Charlie, finds happiness, meaning, and unconditional love.

The film, which stars Rakshit Shetty and Sangeetha Sringeri, masterfully conveys themes of friendship, recovery, and second chances. Its emotional depth and soulful music not only won over moviegoers, but also made many of them cry.

Beyond the accolades and commercial success, Rakshit's kindness off-screen was what really set 777 Charlie apart. The actor declared that a portion of the movie's earnings would support worthwhile causes shortly after it became popular. In a touching gesture, he promised to donate 5% of the movie's profits to charities that support the welfare of independent dogs and animals and 10% to the cast and crew, who worked tirelessly to make the magic happen.

Rakshit said, “We believe that the only way to celebrate this success is by celebrating the multitude of people who have tirelessly worked in union in bringing this film on screen. We have therefore resolved to share 10 percent of the profit that ‘777 Charlie’ makes, with every individual who has advanced the culmination of this film.”

He added, “As the makers of 777 Charlie we are aware of the kind of effort and resource that goes into creating a happy and safe environment for the animals around us. In this light, we would like to contribute 5 percent of the profit, in the name of Charlie, to NGOs across the country that have been dedicatedly working towards the welfare of Indie dogs and animals. Using our light to ignite someone else’s, will illuminate the world. Thanks to each one of you for lighting our world with your love.”

Rakshit Shetty keeps demonstrating through his words and deeds that films can be a force for empathy, kindness, and connection in addition to being a source of amusement.
