Rajinikanth’s brother Sathyanarayana recovering after heart attack; veteran actor returns to Chennai post hospital visit

Superstar Rajinikanth has once again shown that family comes before everything else. The veteran actor rushed to Bengaluru earlier this week after learning that his elder brother, Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad, had suffered a heart attack and was hospitalised in critical condition.

When superstar Rajinikanth heard that his older brother, Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad, had a heart attack earlier this week, he immediately left everything and flew to Bengaluru.

The 82-year-old was immediately taken to a private hospital in Electronic City and admitted to the ICU. The news left the actor deeply shaken, prompting him to halt all work commitments and travel to be with his brother and family.

As per Hindustan times, fortunately, there’s a sigh of relief now. Sathyanarayana’s condition has improved, and he is said to be recovering steadily. He has been moved out of the ICU, and doctors are continuing to monitor his progress closely.

Rajinikanth’s team confirmed the encouraging update, saying, “He is better and not in ICU anymore. Rajinikanth sir had rushed to meet him to check on him. Rajinikanth sir is now returning to Chennai.”

Sources close to the family revealed that Sathyanarayana was quickly taken to the hospital when he complained of discomfort, and timely medical care helped stabilise him. Rajinikanth was seen arriving at the hospital, visibly concerned.

Several videos and pictures shared online showed the superstar entering quietly, meeting the doctors, and spending time with his family before heading back to Chennai.

Sathyanarayana has played a vital role in Rajinikanth’s life — especially during his early days of struggle before fame.

The two brothers have a very strong relationship, and Rajinikanth has frequently talked about how his brother has supported him no matter what.

The actor even shared touching moments and family photos on social media to commemorate his brother's 80th birthday in 2023.

At 74, Rajinikanth continues to be one of Indian cinema’s most loved stars. He had recently been in Goa, filming the final portions of Jailer 2, but immediately paused his shoot to be with his brother.

Meanwhile, on a brighter note, Kamal Haasan announced on his birthday (November 5) that he and Rajinikanth will finally collaborate on a film after decades.

Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), Kamal wrote, “Like wind, like rain, like river. Let's shower, let's enjoy, let's live! Superstar Rajinikanth will star in the movie directed by Sundar C and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International #Thalaivar173 #Pongal2027.”
