When the nation learnt that Dharmendra, one of Bollywood's most recognisable and cherished stars, had died, the country was overcome with grief.
In addition to his enormous body of work, the 89-year-old actor left behind innumerable memories, feelings, and an unparalleled legacy that influenced generations of moviegoers.
Many talked about the kind, compassionate person they had known in addition to the actor Dharmendra.
Superstar Rajinikanth, who shared a close bond with him, expressed his sorrow on X with moving simplicity:
“Farewell, my friend. I will always remember your golden heart and the moments we shared. Rest in peace, Dharam ji. My deepest condolences to his family.”

Actor Khushbu Sundar wrote a heartfelt tribute recalling her first memory of him as a young girl in 1978, mesmerised by his charm, “An era comes to an end. Will always remember Dharam uncle as man with a heart of gold… I have always loved to place my hand in his palm, which always remained tiny… You will be missed Dharam uncle. Rest in peace. Om shanti.”
An era comes to an end. 💔💔
Will always remember Dharam uncle as man with a heart of gold. From the time I met him way back in 1978, fascinated looking at the most handsome man of Indian cinema, i have always loved to place my hand in his palm, which always remained tiny.

In the days leading to his passing, Dharmendra had been under medical supervision at home after being discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where he was treated for prolonged illness and breathing issues.
Although he showed small signs of improvement, his health declined, and on November 24, he took his final breath at his Juhu residence.
By noon today, an ambulance carrying his mortal remains left his home. Soon after, his family — Sunny Deol, Esha Deol, and Hema Malini — arrived at the Pawan Hans Crematorium, their grief visible, their silence heavy with love and memories.
A parade of grief-stricken celebrities followed: Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek, solemn and teary-eyed; Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Saira Banu, Shabana Azmi, among others — all gathering to bid farewell to a man who touched their lives in countless ways.
