Tamil superstar Rajinikanth was seen greeting his fans outside his Chennai residence on the occasion of Diwali today, October 20.
In videos from the scene, the actor appeared cheerful as he greeted fans with folded hands and a warm smile.
Rajinikanth emerged from his home wearing his trademark white kurta and mundu, waving to the sizable crowd that had gathered to see him. In a brief address to the media in attendance, he prayed for everyone's health and happiness and wished them a happy Deepavali.
Reports state that Rajinikanth will shortly start filming his upcoming movie, Nelson's Jailer 2. The superstar visited the Himalayas earlier this month as part of a spiritual retreat.
He went to the Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh, meditated by the Ganga River, saw the evening Ganga Aarti, and also went to the Mahavatar Babaji caves and the holy Badrinath Dham while on his pilgrimage.
On the work front, Rajinikanth was last seen in the blockbuster Coolie, which featured an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Upendra, and Aamir Khan. The film was a massive box office success, grossing over Rs 500 crore.
Now, Rajinikanth is gearing up for Jailer 2, a sequel to his 2023 hit film. Directed by Nelson, the sequel will see him reprise his iconic role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The film is also expected to feature cameo appearances by Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal, much like the original.
