Telangana politician and businessman Malla Reddy, known for his fiery speeches and occasional hilarious remarks at film events, recently revealed that he was offered a massive Rs 3 crore to play the villain in Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
In an interview with TV9, Malla Reddy shared that filmmaker Harish Shankar personally approached him for the role. “Harish Shankar spoke to me for an hour at my college. He offered me Rs 3 crore to play the villain in Pawan Kalyan’s film. I told him, I am not interested in playing the villain. If I do, I’ll shout at the hero until the interval, and then in the second half, he’ll beat me up,” Malla Reddy joked, making his family and the anchor burst into laughter.
Not the first time Malla Reddy spoke about the offer
This isn’t the first time Malla Reddy mentioned being approached for the role. During the teaser launch of Memu Famous in 2023, he hinted at being offered a film by Harish Shankar but didn’t reveal details back then. “Harish tried to convince me for an hour and a half,” he said at the event.
When the crowd teased him, shouting “hero,” he laughed it off, replying, “I won’t play a hero because you’ll get bored of me. After the elections, I plan to start producing some good Telangana films.”
About Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh
Ustaad Bhagat Singh is directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film stars Pawan Kalyan and Sreeleela in lead roles and is reportedly an adaptation of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil hit Theri, which was also remade in Hindi as Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan.
The movie is expected to hit theatres in 2026. Pawan Kalyan, who currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was last seen in Hari Hara Veera Mallu and They Call Him OG.
While fans are eager to see him back on screen, Malla Reddy’s humorous revelation about turning down the villain’s role has added a light-hearted twist to the film’s buzz.
