The much awaited trailer of Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salmaan, which came out on November 5 shows a fight between egos in Madras in the 1950s.
On Tuesday night, the trailer for Kaantha, a historical drama by Selvamani Selvaraj that stars Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, and Bhagyashri Borse, was unveiled and fans can't keep calm.
It puts things ripe for a fight over pride and ambition. Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati worked together to make the movie under the names Wayfarer Films and Spirit Media. It seems like it would be a really intriguing look at the 1950s, when Madras was at its best in terms of movies.
A Fight Between the Creator and the CreationDulquer said on social media in Tamil and Telugu, "The world of Kaantha unfolds today!" when he shared the trailer. The video shows that "King of Acting" Chandran (Dulquer) and his teacher, filmmaker Ayya (Samuthirakani), who made him famous, are having a furious psychological war.
Chandran's ego drives him to take charge at whatever cost, and what starts out as a disagreement over art quickly turns into a dangerous game of retribution and deception. Mentor and student Kaantha goes deep into the troubled relationship between a well-known Tamil filmmaker and the star he made.
Chandran alters the name of Ayya's movie Shaantha, which is about women, to Kaantha. The story shows how love may turn into rivalry. This leads to a conflict for power that starts with damaged feelings and ends with violence. The trailer does an excellent job of depicting this tension by having the two characters battle for their life.
Selvamani Selvaraj, who is recognized for his work on Nila, is in charge of Kaantha. The technical staff is quite good. The pictures have a beautiful, old-fashioned style thanks to Spanish cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez, who is known for his work on Dulquer's Mahanati (2018). Jhanu Chanthar wrote the soundtrack for the movie. People are already talking about songs like "Kanmani Nee," "Panimalare," and "Rage of Kaantha."
Expectations and ReleaseThe movie was supposed to come out on September 12, but it was moved to November 14 so that Dulquer's production company Lokah: Chapter 1 -- Chandra could keep making money at the box office.

The movie will be in Tamil, but there will also be versions in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi that have been dubbed. Kaantha looks like it will be one of the most interesting movies of 2025 since it has a lot of interesting characters, a great setting, and themes of fame, ego, and obsession.
