Jatadhara: Zee Studios and Prerna Arora unveil a spiritual thriller exposing India’s hidden battle against black magic

In a time when greed often overrules faith, Jatadhara dares to explore the dangerous intersection of human ambition and forbidden power. The film begins with the ancient legend of Lankebindelu, a mythical treasure protected by dark forces. Drawn by greed, a group of seekers performs forbidden rituals rooted in real black magic traditions, hoping to uncover the treasure’s secrets. But instead of fortune, they unleash a curse that consumes their lives in terrifying ways.

What sets Jatadhara apart is its realism. The rituals, chants, and visual atmosphere aren’t exaggerated fiction—they echo practices that still persist in parts of India. The film blurs the boundary between faith and fear, asking viewers to confront what happens when people try to command what belongs only to the divine. As its characters descend into chaos, the story turns into a haunting reflection on spiritual imbalance and the perils of human arrogance.

Producer Prerna Arora, in launching her initiative Black Magic Mukt Bharat, sees the film as more than entertainment. “Real horror doesn’t happen in theaters. It starts at home,” she says. For her, Jatadhara is a wake-up call—exposing how black magic destroys families and preys on emotional weakness. “It’s not about blind faith, it’s about spiritual strength,” Arora explains, emphasizing Lord Shiva’s energy as the ultimate cleanser of darkness. “Black magic isn’t entertainment. It’s the country’s most hidden crime,” she adds, urging people to reclaim the divine consciousness that protects against manipulation and fear.

At the film’s heart lies a devotee of Lord Shiva, an ordinary man who refuses to bow to darkness. His faith becomes the story’s turning point. As he prays amidst chaos, the film shifts from horror to transcendence, embodying the eternal struggle between good and evil, ego and surrender, illusion and truth.

Presented by Zee Studios and Prerna Arora, Jatadhara is produced by Umesh KR Bansal, Prerna Arora, Shivin Narang, Aruna Agarwal, Shilpa Singhal, and Nikhil Nanda, with music by Zee Music Co. Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, the film stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sudheer Babu, Shilpa Shirodkar, Indira Krishna, and more.

A spiritual thriller that transcends cinema, Jatadhara releases in theatres on November 7, 2025, in Telugu and Hindi.
