Fans of the Drishyam franchise have every reason to celebrate, as the release date for Drishyam 3 has finally been revealed.
On Wednesday, legendary actor Mohanlal shared the exciting news, teasing the third chapter in the suspenseful Malayalam series in which he reprises his iconic role as the clever TV cable operator Georgekutty.
Notably, the Malayalam version will hit theatres months ahead of the Hindi remake starring Ajay Devgn, giving fans the first chance to revisit Georgekutty’s world.
Announcing the film, Mohanlal posted a short, atmospheric teaser video and wrote, “Years passed. The past didn’t. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release | April 2, 2026.”
The clip is filled with subtle nods to the first two films: an old television set, a shovel, a submerged car, a yellow bag, a cell phone, a CCTV camera, and a script – all objects that carry secrets from the earlier stories. The video ends with the film’s official poster, instantly sparking conversations among fans and reigniting excitement for the next chapter.
The poster itself is striking, showing Mohanlal staring intently at the camera, with his on-screen wife Rani George, played by Meena, and daughters Anju and Anu, portrayed by Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil, standing behind him.
The tagline, “The past never stays silent,” hints at the tension and suspense audiences can expect, while the film’s official social media page added, “Every secret has a return date. April 2, 2026 – the truth unfolds.”
Directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, Drishyam 3 is presented by Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios in collaboration with Panorama Studios.
The story continues to follow Georgekutty as he navigates the aftermath of a long-hidden secret, balancing the protection of his family with the ever-present threat of the law – a storyline that has kept audiences gripped since the very first film.
Meanwhile, the Hindi version of Drishyam 3 is slated for release on 2 October 2026. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, it stars Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Tabu, and promises a similarly gripping narrative, set seven years after the events of the original.
