Days after a similar hoax call was made regarding actor-turned-politician Vijay's home, Chennai has increased security after receiving numerous bomb threats.
Anonymous callers allegedly said that bombs had been planted at the residences of veteran actor-politician S Ve Shekher and actress Trisha, according to police sources.
Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were sent to the sites in a timely manner. Authorities verified after extensive inspections that the alerts were not real and that nothing questionable was discovered.
Vijay's home on East Coast Road (ECR) was the target of a hoax call shortly before the new threats. That incident happened not long after 41 people were killed in a tragic stampede at a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally in Karur. Following the tragedy, Vijay announced that the families of the deceased would receive Rs 20 lakh each, while the injured would receive Rs 2 lakh each.
It's interesting to note that Trisha's home and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's are both on Chennai's Cenotaph Road, which adds to worries about the area's history of threats. Similar alerts were reportedly sent to the state headquarters of the BJP as well.
Police have deemed all of the incidents to be hoaxes, but city security has increased. The source of the threatening calls is being investigated.
Regarding their careers, the last time we saw Vijay and Trisha together was in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo. Additionally, Trisha had a special appearance in Vijay's film, The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). H. Vinoth is directing Vijay's current project, Jana Nayagan, which is anticipated to be his final motion picture before he enters politics full-time.
