The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has made a historic announcement: all upcoming big-budget Tamil films will use a new profit-sharing model. The new rule says that top actors, directors, and technicians will now share both profits and losses with producers. This is meant to help film producers who are having a hard time with money.
Dealing with the Financial Problems in the IndustryThe TFPC put out an official statement that talked about the decline in theatrical revenues and OTT earnings. This has made traditional production models impossible to keep up with. The council stressed that the new structure would make all key players in the filmmaking process more accountable and responsible as a group, in order to protect producers from too much risk.
The council has also made a new rule that OTT releases can only happen eight weeks after the movie's theatrical release. This is to make sure that the movie has a good run at the box office and to bring balance back between streaming and cinema.
Help for Small and Medium FilmsThe TFPC also said it would set up a "Film Release Regulation Committee" to help smaller filmmakers deal with the problems they face. This committee will be in charge of and help with the proper theatrical release of small and medium-budget Tamil films, which happen about 250 times a year.
The council wants to make it easier for independent and up-and-coming producers to get their work seen by making release schedules more efficient and giving everyone equal access to screens.
Make the Film Ecosystem StrongerThe TFPC told actors, directors, and top technicians to put theatrical films ahead of web series. They stressed that the cinema industry needs to be more focused on the digital age to stay strong. The council also said that they would work with the South Indian Artistes' Association and the Theatre Owners' Association to take strong action against some YouTube channels that have allegedly crossed moral lines in their coverage and commentary on film-related issues.

This move could change the way Tamil cinema makes movies, and it could change the way big movies are funded, distributed, and made money in the future.
