Banijay Asia’s show The 50 has made a record as the most-watched show on OTT platforms.
According to the latest report by Ormax Media, the show recorded an impressive 8.1 million views on JioHotstar during its first week of streaming.
Inspired by the popular French format, The 50 offers a new take on reality shows. The program features 50 famous personalities living together in a big palace. These contestants are often chosen from different platforms like television, digital platforms, music, and reality TV.
The participants perform several intense challenges and tasks, and make alliances as they fight to avoid elimination during the 50-day competition. They rely on several tactics such as flexibility, strategy, and strong social skills to continue i the game and get saved from eliminations.
But The 50 is not so simple as it seems. One major highlight of the game is the mysterious game master known as The Lion, who guides the entire competition. The Lion directs the game, announces twists, and keeps contestants on edge, adding suspense and intrigue.
What makes the game more interesting for the viewers as well is that, unlike any other reality show, the ultimate cash reward goes to one of the winners’ registered followers, selected through the show’s dedicated app, instead of the winner taking home the final prize.
This format gives viewers a chance to become active participants rather than being mere passive watchers. By offering fans a real chance to win, the show encourages deeper engagement and loyalty, extending the excitement beyond the screen.
The series also features a dynamic and diverse group of contestants, including Karan Patel, Urvashi Dholakia, and Divya Agarwal, as well as digital stars like Mr. Faisu and Dushyant Kukreja.
