Rashmika Mandanna steps into the role of Maratha queen Yesubai Bhonsale in the much-awaited historical drama Chhaava, where she stars alongside Vicky Kaushal. Sharing her excitement about the film, Rashmika expressed her happiness with the role, humorously adding that she now feels ready to retire.

The film’s trailer was unveiled on January 22 at Mumbai’s iconic Plaza Theatre in a grand event attended by the cast and crew. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Laxman Utekar, the movie delves into the valor and legacy of the Maratha empire. With Rashmika’s powerful portrayal and Vicky Kaushal’s compelling presence, Chhaava promises to be a cinematic spectacle, blending history and drama seamlessly.

During the trailer launch, Rashmika expressed gratitude to the team for giving her the opportunity and lightheartedly quipped about retiring after taking on such a pivotal role. She mentioned, "It is an honour. From a girl coming from the South to play Maharani Yesubai is the most privileged and special thing I could ask for in this lifetime. I tell Laxman sir that after this, I am happy to retire. I am not someone who cries but this trailer choked me up. [Vicky] looks like God, he’s Chhaava."

Talking about how the role came her way, she said , Rashmika shared, “I remember being absolutely shocked how did Laxman sir even think of giving me a role like this to play? I just surrendered… you don’t have a reference. It’s a story. You know their story and they are such majestical, impactful characters and personalities. How do you play them?"

She expressed her complete trust in Laxman sir's vision for the character. Although there were extensive rehearsals, particularly for mastering the language, she highlighted the significance of trusting the team. She stressed the need to stay open-minded and dedicated, ready to put in the effort required to bring the role to life.

Alongside Rashmika and Vicky, Chhaava features an impressive ensemble cast, including Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Neil Bhoopalam, Santosh Juvekar, and Pradeep Rawat in pivotal roles. With music composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman, the film is produced under the banner of Maddock Films, promising a grand cinematic experience.

The movie is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, perfectly timed to precede the celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19, 2025.
