YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija were summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW) following controversial remarks made by them during Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent.
The two were called to appear before the commission to address their insensitive and crass comments, which sparked widespread outrage on social media.
The incident occurred when Ranveer and Apoorva, made remarks that were perceived to be misogynistic and disrespectful toward women during Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent. Ashish Chanchlani, Samay Raina and Jaspreet Singh were also a part of the same episode.
The particular comment went viral of Ranveer where he was seen asking a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?"
The comments quickly went viral, with many accusing the YouTubers of promoting harmful attitudes and perpetuating gender stereotypes.
The NCW, which is tasked with protecting the rights and dignity of women, took swift action by issuing a summons to both individuals, urging them to explain their actions.
The incident has further ignited discussions about the responsibility of influencers and content creators in shaping public discourse and the importance of maintaining respect and sensitivity in their communications.
Following the backlash, Samay Raina removed all episodes of India's Got Latent from his YouTube channel and pledged his full cooperation with the authorities. He later confessed that the situation had been difficult for him to manage. Meanwhile, Allahbadia issued a public apology, recognising that his comments were "not only inappropriate but also not funny at all."
