Actor Kiran Joneja has strongly defended her husband, filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, after an interviewer referred to him as a “colourful man” who had been in “at least two affairs.” The comment came during an interview with Lehren Retro, sparking a visibly upset reaction from Kiran Joneja.
She firmly stated, “I haven’t heard of any rumours about Ramesh Sippy’s affairs earlier or during our three decades of marriage.” The couple has been married since 1991. When the interviewer insisted on Sippy’s alleged past affairs, Joneja didn’t mince words: “I don’t care, maybe it was there. But I know this much that after meeting me, I don’t know of any affair till today.”
Despite repeated claims by the interviewer that Ramesh Sippy “was in a relationship with two actresses,” Kiran responded clearly, “Hoga (Maybe), but that is the past. I don’t want to talk about it. I wouldn’t even comment on it.”

Kiran also made it clear that for her, it’s not marriage but commitment that truly matters. Reflecting on the bond they share, she emphasized how they’ve built a life together over the last 30+ years.
Ramesh Sippy, known for iconic films like Sholay (1975), Shaan, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Saagar, was previously married and has three children: Rohan, Sonya, and Sheena Sippy. Kiran, who married him at the age of 27 when he was 44, has also had a thriving acting career with roles in films like Khosla Ka Ghosla, Jab We Met, and shows such as Mahabharat and Buniyaad.
