Ram Kapoor, who became a household name thanks to two of Ekta Kapoor's biggest shows, 'Kasamh Se' and 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain,' once again addressed the controversy surrounding his comments on the kiss scene with Sakshi Tanwar.
The actor can't express enough gratitude to the audience for the success of his new show, Mistry, currently streaming on Jio Hotstar. Though prior to the release of the show, Ram Kapoor was embroiled in a major controversy, but he is thankful that his work didn't get affected by it.
Now he has also addressed another old controversy of his, the infamous kiss scene with Sakshi Tanwar in his show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.
In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, Ram Kapoor addressed the long-brewing speculation around his fallout with TV czarina Ekta Kapoor—the woman widely credited for giving him his biggest break.
In an exclusive conversation with Moneycontrol, Ram Kapoor said that he presumed that the entire 'kiss thing with Sakshi was her idea.'
Ram told us that since the show's producer, Ektaa Kapoor, had informed both him and Sakshi about the kissing scene, he led him to assume it was her idea.
"I presumed that whole kiss thing was her idea. She’s the one who informed us. Maybe it was the writers, maybe not. Since she got upset, maybe it wasn’t hers.”
The infamous controversy centered around a kissing scene with Sakshi Tanwar on Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, which became a meme-fueled national conversation and led to some friction between Ram Kapoor and his longtime mentor.
“Whatever she got upset about, I stayed silent. Gautami [Kapoor, his wife] was just having fun on social media. For her, it’s not serious. I thought it would blow over in a few months. It didn’t.”
After much silence, Ram Kapoor finally addressed the matter publicly and said he can never say anything against Ekta ever because she is the one who gave him work and 'Nobody in the industry has done what she did for me.'
"Whether I agree or disagree with her comments is not important. How can I disregard all she has done for me? She gave me a platform. I became a household name because of her. So, anything she wants to say about me—even if it's names for the next 10 years—please do so. Nobody in the industry has done what she did for me," he added.
Ram Kapoor was loved as the business tycoon Ram Kapoor on screen in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. His onscreen jodi with Sakshi Tanwar was loved by audiences for many years.
