Rakesh Roshan shares health update after neck angioplasty: ‘Hope this inspires others to stay on top of their health’

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan recently underwent a neck angioplasty after discovering that over 75% of both his carotid arteries were blocked, despite showing no symptoms. He shared his recent health update after the successful surgery.

Rakesh Roshan took to Instagram on Tuesday, July 22, and shared a photo of himself with the hospital staff, seen shaking hands and thanking them.

He penned a note in the caption, reflecting on his sudden health scare and appreciation for the care he received during the unexpected ordeal.

The caption read, "This week has been truly eye opening, during a routine full body health check up the Dr conducting the sonography for the heart suggested I also do one for the neck. By chance we found out that although asymptomatic, both my carotid arteries to the brain were above 75% blocked. Which if ignored could be potentially dangerous. I immediately admitted myself into the hospital and got the preventative procedures done. I am back home now fully recovered and hope to get back to my workouts very soon."

He also shared the importance of regular health check up, emphasizing on "prevention is better than cure". "I hope this inspires others to stay on top of their health especially where the heart and brain is concerned. A heart CT and a carotid brain artery sonography ( which is often ignored completely) is a must for everyone above 45- 50 years old. I think it’s important to remember that prevention is always better than cure. I wish a healthy and aware year to you all."

Rakesh Roshan was admitted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital on July 16 after experiencing a sharp deterioration in his health, according to earlier media reports. His daughter Sunaina Roshan later confirmed it with the media that he underwent the surgery.

On the professional front,  "Krrish 4" was formally revealed in April. The film is being produced by Yash Raj Films in collaboration with Rakesh Roshan.
