Rajinikanth is the first one to watch the trailer of Prithviraj and Mohanlal starrer 'L2: Empuraan'

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is the first person to have watched the trailer of much-anticipated L2: Empuraan, which features Mohanlal in the lead role. L2's director Prithviraj Sukumaran shared the information on his Instagram account today.

Prithviraj shared a picture Thalaiva Rajinikanth and wrote: "The very first person to watch the trailer of #L2E #EMPURAAN I will forever cherish what you said after watching it Sir! This meant the world to me! Fanboy forever! @rajinikanth #OGSuperstar

L2: Empuraan is a sequel to the superhit film, Lucifer.

The trailer of L2: Empuraan is not released yet even though there are only 10 days left for the film's release.

Fans have also expressed their disappointment as there has been no promotion of Empuraan. According to reports, the makers have recently managed to sort out a hurdle which involved one of the producers, Lyca Productions.

It is a sequel to Lucifer, L2: Empuraan with Mohanlal in the lead role. The film's cast includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

L2: Empuraan has already created history by setting a new record for overseas rights, surpassing Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha.

Prithviraj made his directorial debut with the blockbuster film Lucifer, which became the first Malayalam film to cross Rs 200 crore at the box office. He has since then helmed acclaimed films like Bro Daddy and starred in hits like Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire and Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Now, with L2: Empuraan, expectations are soaring.

Several fans also gathered at New York’s Times Square to witness the grand unveiling of its teaser. Meanwhile, North America’s premiere ticket sales have set a new benchmark, reflecting the film’s massive anticipation.

Talking about it Prithviraj shared, "It is incredible to receive this kind of love from audiences worldwide. Be it fans gathering at Times Square or the record-breaking ticket sales, L2: Empuraan has become the most anticipated film for our masses and I can't wait to make this experience special for them on the big screen. It is our labor of love and before audiences witness this, we are elated to re-release Lucifer and take audiences down memory lane."

As a special treat for fans, Lucifer is set to re-release in theaters on March 20, allowing audiences to relive the first chapter before L2: Empuraan arrives in cinemas on March 27.
