Kamal Haasan, who founded the political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) in 2018, is set to take oath as a Rajya Sabha member on July 25. He was elected unopposed to the Upper House after a DMK-led alliance endorsed his candidacy in June 2025. The MNM released an official statement saying, “We are pleased to inform you that Kamal Haasan will take the oath of office and assume his duties in Parliament on July 25.” His political journey, rooted in ideals of transparency and governance reform, is now poised to enter a national platform.
