While Alia Bhatt is considered one of the finest actors of her generation, her step-brother Rahul Bhatt believes otherwise. He opines the real star of the Bhatt family is his real sister, Pooja Bhatt. In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Rahul shared a surprising take on the Bhatt siblings. He praised Pooja for her talent and integrity, while drawing sharp comparisons with Alia.
Rahul Bhatt, the son of Mahesh Bhatt and his first wife Kiran Bhatt, didn’t hold back when asked about his views on Alia, who is Mahesh’s daughter with second wife Soni Razdan. “She has talent, the universe is with her, and she understands PR very well,” he said, acknowledging Alia's professional achievements. “But in my opinion, she is not even half of what my real sister Pooja is—not in talent, not in looks, not in terms of being sexy. In front of my sister, she is ‘paani kam chai’.”
Pooja Bhatt is known for impactful roles in films such as Sadak and Zakhm, many of which were collaborations with her father Mahesh Bhatt. Rahul believes that Pooja was instrumental in continuing their father’s cinematic legacy. “She truly carried it forward. I saw her in her stardom. She was the biggest sex symbol of the country back then,” he remarked.
Despite this, Rahul expressed no ill will toward Alia. He shared that he has immense respect for how she supports her sister, Shaheen Bhatt. “I am on good terms with her. She is a mother now, and very successful. One can’t just pick up the phone and say, ‘I’m coming over.’ I respect the boundaries. But I admire how she takes care of my other stepsister, Shaheen. That’s something I really appreciate.”
He concluded by saying he’s happy for Alia and the life she has built with Ranbir Kapoor. “She got the right husband. She is a good mother. I don’t share a very close relationship with her, but I wish her well,” he said.
