After Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte is the latest star to advocate for more family time.
While speaking with Indian Express, Radhika stated that the film business isn't particularly 'conducive' for new mothers like her.
Radhika further said she doesn't know how to handle her profession today. She was asked whether the industry is conducive to new moms, to this she said: “I don’t think they are. I don’t know how I’m going to navigate that going ahead.”
Radhika's response follows rumours that actress Deepika Padukone recently turned down Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit when her demand for an 8-hour shift and a better compensation package were not granted.
Actor-producer Ajay Devgn had also backed actresses' demands for an eight hour shift and Saif Ali Khan also voiced his support for the demand.
Radhika said, "It’s really difficult to work in our film industry, given the number of hours and how we film generally and the time for which we don’t get to see the child. So I guess I’ll just have to figure it out now.”
Radhika has been spending her time between Mumbai and London for quite some time, making things even tougher.
Radhika, who gave birth to a baby girl in December last year, recently spoke with news agency ANI about the emotional highs and lows she has faced in her postpartum journey.
She stated, “I was very prepared for postpartum, actually. And I had also made sure that my friends and family were aware that if I went into postpartum depression, they needed to support me. To my own surprise, I was just purely elated when I had a child. And fortunately, I didn't suffer from severe depression at any point.”
Radhika is married to musician Benedict Taylor.
