The creator of the long-running show Anupamaa, television producer Rajan Shahi, recently sparked online interest by responding to the most recent TRP reports with a mysterious Instagram post.

His post coincides with reports that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, which stars Smriti Irani and was just released, has equalled and, some claim, even surpassed Anupamaa in terms of viewership.

In the note, Shahi subtly addressed these claims, referring to the TRP narrative surrounding Kyunki 2 as “A PR Team,” hinting at his scepticism over the way the ratings are being portrayed. While he refrained from directly naming the show, the timing of his post has left little doubt among fans about what — or rather, who — he was referring to.

He wrote, "WRONG PROJECTION A PR TEAM Will never work. Anupamaa team Thu Thu Thu Satyamev Jayate."

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the TRP data for Week 30 was recently released. The figures revealed that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 topped the charts with 2.3 million impressions. Interestingly, Anupamaa also recorded 2.3 million impressions during the same week.

Despite the numbers being identical, the industry chatter quickly turned to claims that Smriti Irani’s comeback drama had “beaten” Rupali Ganguly’s much-loved series.

The ongoing comparison between the two shows has created quite a stir in television circles. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thu 2 has been making headlines since its launch, riding on both nostalgia for the original and Smriti Irani’s return to acting after years in politics.

Meanwhile, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 wastes no time diving into its own intense drama. The plot currently revolves around Pari’s marriage to Ajay, a man with a dark criminal past, and the unraveling of the truth behind Angad’s wrongful entrapment.
