Renowned Bollywood music director Pritam Chakraborty has reported a theft of Rs 40 lakh from his Mumbai office, allegedly involving his own staff. The incident was discovered recently, leading him to file a formal complaint with the police.
According to News18 reports, a complaint has been registered at Malad police station after a staff member allegedly stole Rs 40 lakh from the office of renowned music composer Pritam Chakraborty. The theft was discovered by the composer’s manager, who immediately reported the incident to the authorities. Following this, an FIR was filed, and an investigation is now underway.
Police have identified the primary suspect as 32-year-old Ashish Sayal and have formed teams to track him down.
As per reports, the theft took place around 2 pm on February 4 at Pritam’s music studio, Unimus Record Pvt. Ltd., located in Goregaon. The stolen cash was part of a delivery from a production house, where a representative handed over a bag containing Rs 40 lakh to the composer’s manager, Vineet Chedda.
At the time of the incident, three individuals—Sayal, Ahmed Khan, and Kamal Disha—were present at the studio. Authorities are actively investigating the case, questioning those who were present to uncover further details about the circumstances of the theft.
An officer stated that the manager, after receiving the cash, placed it in a trolley bag in the office before heading to Pritam Chakraborty’s house in the same building to get some documents signed. Upon returning, Chedda realized that the trolley bag with the cash was missing. When he questioned the staff, they informed him that Sayal had taken the bag, claiming he was moving it to Chakraborty’s residence.
According to the police, Chedda tried reaching out to the suspect, but his calls were ignored. His suspicion grew when the suspect eventually switched off his phone. Sensing foul play, Chedda immediately reported the situation to Pritam Chakraborty, who advised him to file a complaint with the authorities without delay. As the investigation progresses, further updates are awaited, and the stolen money has yet to be recovered.
