Prince William and Kate Middleton have confirmed that they will not be attending the upcoming 2025 BAFTA Film Awards ceremony.

Kensington Palace officially announced that the Prince and Princess of Wales will not be present at the prestigious event, which is scheduled for Sunday, February 16th.

The royal couple has traditionally attended the BAFTA ceremony in the past, but it appears that they will be missing from this year's star-studded affair. While the exact reasons for their absence have not been specified, it is likely due to their busy schedules and other royal commitments.

The BAFTA Film Awards are one of the most anticipated events in the film industry, and their absence has raised some questions among fans and the media alike.

However, the royal couple has often made it clear that their participation in such events is dependent on their prior engagements and duties.

Instead of attending the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards in person, Prince William, who has held the position of BAFTA president since 2010, is expected to engage in a video presentation during the ceremony.

This will allow him to maintain his connection to the event while fulfilling other commitments.

In addition to this, Prince William is scheduled to visit the London Screen Academy, further demonstrating his ongoing dedication to supporting and fostering young talent within the film and television industry.

His participation in these initiatives underscores his commitment to promoting the next generation of creatives and his passion for the arts.

Kate Mansey, royal editor for the Times UK, revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton will not be attending the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards due to the event coinciding with their children's school break. She shared on X that it "falls on the first weekend of the half-term school holidays."

Mansey also mentioned that Prince William's focus will shift to "highlighting the next generation of film talent" instead of attending the ceremony.

Prince William and Kate Middleton, parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, traditionally attend the BAFTA Film Awards. However, last year, Prince William attended solo as his wife was recovering from abdominal surgery.

At the time, Princess Kate had not publicly shared her cancer diagnosis. Since undergoing chemotherapy, the Princess of Wales recently revealed that she is now in remission. This marks a significant and hopeful step in her recovery journey.

At the 2024 BAFTA Film Awards, Prince William was seen mingling with Hollywood A-listers like Bradley Cooper, Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Cate Blanchett, and Emma Stone. The last time Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the event together was in 2023, where Kate wowed in a white one-shoulder Alexander McQueen dress, while Prince William donned a black tuxedo with a velvet jacket.

However, the couple had previously missed the event, including in 2021 when William was absent due to the passing of his grandfather, Prince Philip. They also skipped the ceremony in 2022 due to scheduling conflicts.
