Prajakta Koli, one of India’s most recognisable digital creators turned actor and bestselling author, is adding another milestone to her career.
Popularly known as MostlySane to her millions of fans online, Prajakta has now made her debut in Marathi cinema with Hemant Dhome’s drama Krantijyoti Vidyalay – Marathi Madhyam.
The film, shot earlier this year in Alibaug, sheds light on the urgent issue of the declining number of Marathi-medium schools across Maharashtra.
Rooted in a storyline that speaks to the state’s cultural and educational concerns, the project aligns closely with Prajakta’s established connection with younger audiences and her growing reputation for taking on content that is both meaningful and socially relevant.
Reflecting on the experience, Prajakta Koli said: “Moving from the digital space to Bollywood was an incredible experience, but stepping into Marathi cinema feels like coming home. The language, the culture, and the regional stories we tell hold a special place in my heart. Krantijyoti Vidyalay – Marathi Madhyam explores themes that are not only timely but essential.”
This marks a bold new chapter in her acting journey, following notable performances in Netflix’s Mismatched, Amazon Prime’s Andhera, and Dharma Productions’ Jug Jugg Jeeyo.

Director Hemant Dhome also shared his enthusiasm for the project, emphasising how personal the story is to him. “I completed my schooling in Raigad and I am extremely happy to have gotten the chance to shoot this film, which is about the education system, in the same region. We were on cloud nine looking at the response of the audience to the announcement. Now that the filming is complete, I am even more confident about offering something new to them. Our team is the strength of this film and we will soon bring the movie to a cinema near you.”
The film is produced by Chalchitra Mandalee, the production company led by Kshitee Jog, and features a stellar ensemble including Sachin Khedekar, Amey Wagh, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Kadambari Kadam, Harish Dudhade, and Pushkaraj Chirputkar.
