Tamil cinema’s new-age storyteller Pradeep Ranganathan is on a roll. After the phenomenal success of Love Today, which was later remade in Hindi as Loveyapa starring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, his latest film Dragon is now heading the same way.

The film, which hit theatres on February 21, 2025, has turned into a massive blockbuster, and according to industry tracker Valai Pechu, a Hindi remake is already in the works.

While there has been no official announcement yet, sources suggest that pre-production for the Hindi version has quietly begun. The move doesn’t come as a surprise. Dragon has been praised not only for its quirky storytelling and relatable emotions but also for Ranganathan’s knack for blending humor with heartfelt drama—qualities that resonate well with pan-Indian audiences.

The film’s lead character, labeled as the “worst student,” struck a chord with younger viewers who saw themselves in his struggles and rebellious streak. It’s this mix of comedy, emotion, and slice-of-life drama that has made Dragon an easy candidate for a wider Hindi-speaking audience. If Love Today’s success in its adapted form is any indication, Dragon could follow the same path and capture a whole new market.

Interestingly, Pradeep Ranganathan is carving a unique space in Indian cinema where his stories, rooted in local culture, carry universal themes that travel well across languages. Industry buzz suggests that casting choices for the Hindi remake will be crucial. With the right mix of fresh faces and bankable names, the project could appeal strongly to North Indian audiences while retaining the charm of the original.

Fans are eagerly waiting for confirmation, and while details remain under wraps, the buzz alone is proof of the filmmaker’s growing brand value. Whether Dragon in Hindi matches the raw energy of the Tamil original will be closely watched, but one thing is clear: Pradeep Ranganathan has become a storyteller whose work naturally demands a wider canvas.
