The adored patriarch of the well-liked reality show Duck Dynasty, Phil Robertson, died at the age of 79. Only a few months have passed since the family made his Alzheimer's disease diagnosis public.
His son, Jase Robertson, shared the poignant update on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!”
Sadie Robertson Huff, his granddaughter, also paid respects on Instagram by sharing a touching compilation of family portraits that honour special times spent with her grandfather over the years.
In a joint statement, Phil’s son Willie Robertson and his wife Korie expressed their gratitude and reflected on Phil’s life: “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life. We know so many of you love him and have been impacted by his life. We’re having a private service for now, but we’ll share details soon about a public celebration of his life.”
Phil's health was first revealed by the family in the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast on December 6. Jase talked candidly about the initial phases of his father's diagnosis and the difficulties they were dealing with.
Sadly, the disease advanced quickly. On the April 2 episode of Unashamed, Jase gave an update: “He’s not good.” He described the toll Alzheimer’s was taking, saying, “It’s not just memory anymore — it’s impacting his whole body.” The family has been dedicated to ensuring Phil’s comfort throughout this difficult time. “We’re doing everything we can,” Jase shared. “At this point, that’s all you really can do.”
The A&E show Duck Dynasty followed the lives of the Robertson family, which included Phil and Kay Robertson, their sons Jase, Willie, and Jep, as well as their grandchildren and staff at Duck Commander, the family's duck call company.
During its 11-season run, which ended in 2017, the show was incredibly popular and inspired a number of spinoffs, such as Duck Family Treasure, Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty, Going Si-Ral, and At Home with the Robertsons.
Earlier this year, in January, A&E announced the return of the Robertsons with Duck Dynasty: The Revival, promising fans fresh stories from the family.
