Priya Marathe, the much-loved television actress and comedian, passed away in Mumbai at 38 after bravely fighting cancer for a year. Born and raised in the city, she grew up chasing her dream of acting and went on to leave an indelible mark on Hindi and Marathi television.

Television actress and comedian Priya Marathe, known for her work in Hindi and Marathi serials including Pavitra Rishta, passed away in Mumbai on 31 August 2025 after a year-long battle with cancer. She was 38. Despite undergoing treatment, she could not recover, and breathed her last on Sunday morning, according to Maharashtra Times.

Born on 23 April 1987, Priya grew up in Mumbai, the city that shaped both her personal and professional journey. She completed her schooling and college there before pursuing her childhood ambition of acting. Friends and colleagues often recalled her determined as she wanted to mark her way in the creative world.

Her acting journey began with Marathi television with Ya Sukhanoya and later Char Divas Sasuche, shows that gave her early recognition in the field. She then moved into Hindi serials with the role of Vidya Bali in Balaji Telefilms’ Kasamh Se.

Alongside acting, she displayed her lighter side in the first season of Comedy Circus, establishing herself as a performer who could bring both depth and humour to the screen.

Priya’s defining role came with Pavitra Rishta, where her portrayal of Varsha Satish made her a household name.

She also featured in Bade Acche Lagte Hain in 2012, further expanding her reach among audiences. Her versatility shone through with appearances in shows such as Tu Tithe Me, Jayastute, Bhaage Re Mann, and Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap.

On the personal front, in 2012, Priya married actor Shantanu Moghe, son of veteran Marathi actor Shrikant Moghe. Those close to her remember her as warm-hearted, resilient, and deeply dedicated to her craft.

Her passing at such a young age has left fans, friends, and the industry grieving the loss of a vibrant talent who had so much more to offer.
