Paresh Rawal defends Akshay Kumar's multiple film projects, says "Wo smuggling toh nahi karta hai..."

Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal has come out in support of his Bhooth Bangla co-star Akshay Kumar, defending his prolific film choices and addressing the criticism surrounding his decision to appear in 4-5 films each year.

Paresh Rawal, who has worked alongside Akshay in numerous hit films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, OMG: Oh My God, and Aitraaz, praised his co-star’s work ethic and dedication, asserting that it should not concern anyone if Akshay chooses to take on multiple projects annually.

In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh Rawal opened up about his long-standing friendship with Akshay Kumar, highlighting the actor’s discipline and integrity. Paresh described Akshay as a ‘hard-working’ individual who is ‘extremely honest’.

He shared that there is no room for insecurity between them, adding, "I know I can’t do what he does. Be it the action or being a really good-looking guy." He continued, "He is not just extremely hardworking but very honest, too. There is no hidden agenda when he converses with you. The integrity is top-notch, and he is a proper family man. It feels nice to talk to him, and be around him."

When the topic turned to the criticism Akshay Kumar often faces regarding his rapid film schedule, Paresh Rawal strongly defended his co-star.

"Honestly, what is your problem if he does so many films? People go to him to make the films, right? As a producer, I would sign an actor only if I can account for the money I am investing," he explained, emphasising that Akshay's work speaks for itself.

Further defending Akshay, Paresh Rawal pointed out that the actor’s love for his craft is evident. “Wo kaam karna pasand karta hai. Wo smuggling toh nahi karta hai, daaru supply toh nahi karta hai. Drugs to nahi karta hai, jua to nahi karta hai. Wo kaam karta hai to kitna employment generate hota hai, wo bhi dekhiye aap,” he said. (He likes doing work. He isn’t smuggling, supplying alcohol, selling drugs, or gambling. And more importantly, his films are also a source of employment for thousands.)

Rawal highlighted that Akshay’s prolific work not only offers entertainment but also creates employment opportunities within the industry, benefiting many people.

On the work front, both Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal are set to star together in the upcoming film Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan.

The film, which also features Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi, is scheduled for release on April 2, 2026. This will mark yet another collaboration between the two actors, continuing their successful partnership on screen.
