Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 took the box office by storm during its theatrical run, emerging as one of the most powerful folk sagas to come out of Indian cinema in recent years. The film earned over Rs 800 crore globally, captivating audiences with its striking blend of mythology, folklore, devotion, and raw storytelling rooted in the culture of coastal Karnataka. Now, in a treat for fans who missed its big-screen experience—or those eager to revisit it—the blockbuster has finally arrived on OTT in Hindi.
After initially premiering on Amazon Prime Video on October 31, 2025, in four languages—Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam—the platform had held back the Hindi dubbed version for a later release.
The wait is now officially over. Prime Video India has announced that the Hindi version of Kantara: Chapter 1 is now available to stream as well. The update was shared with fans through a new poster on the platform’s Instagram handle, sparking excitement across social media.
The caption read, "Kantara's legendary roar echoes, now in Hindi #KantaraALegendChapter1OnPrime, Watch Now."
Kantara: Chapter 1 delves deep into the origins of Daiva worship in the Tulunadu region, taking viewers back to the era of the fourth-century Kadamba dynasty. At the heart of the narrative is Rishab Shetty’s powerful portrayal of Berme, a divine protector of the sacred Kantara forest and its tribal communities. The film explores the spiritual, cultural, and political tension between a royal lineage attempting to exert control and the indigenous tribes who stand firm in their devotion to the Daivas.

The film features Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram in pivotal roles, each adding depth to the layered narrative. The supporting cast—Rakesh Poojari, Hariprashanth MG, Deepak Rai Panaje, Shaneel Gautham, and Naveen Bondel—further enriches the world of Kantara with grounded performances. With atmospheric visuals, intense performances, and a gripping storyline, the movie expands on the mystical universe that Rishab Shetty introduced in the 2022 hit Kantara.
Serving as a prequel to the original film, Kantara: Chapter 1 was released in theatres on 2 October, and has since continued to impress at the box office. The film recently crossed the Rs 800 crore mark internationally, and according to Sacnilk, is poised to enter the Rs 600 crore net club in India, solidifying its place among the biggest Indian films of the decade.
