Rasika Dugal, who created the mysterious Beena Tripathi, looks back on the journey that became one of the most famous stories in Indian streaming as Mirzapur Season 2 celebrates its fifth anniversary.
Reflecting on the series, Rasika said, “There’s always a nervous excitement every time I step back into Mirzapur.”
She added, “The thought is always — ‘I hope I can find my Beena again!’ So much has been said about the show and the characters that the real challenge is to stay true to what I feel while being Beena, instead of giving in to what people expect or interpret about her. People evolve, and so do characters. It’s important — and also a lot of fun — to stay open to that evolution.”
Gritty, multi-layered, and character-driven, Mirzapur has completely changed the grammar of Indian web storytelling since its launch in 2018. Unpredictable, subtly strong, and incredibly human, Beena Tripathi continues to be one of the most intriguing characters on the show.

Rasika is now preparing to return to the world of Mirzapur in a film format with Mirzapur: The Film, which is presently in production, as viewers commemorate five years of the cult phenomenon's second season. Fans have been anxiously awaiting the feature, which will deepen the series' legacy and examine its characters in a fresh, cinematic way.
Mirzapur, a tale of strength, aspiration, and survival, endures in the popular consciousness despite the passage of time. Furthermore, Rasika Dugal's search for Beena Tripathi is far from over.
